LAPASEC
LAPASEC: Landau-Paris Symposia on the Eighteenth Century
LAPASEC has long been familiar to many eighteenth-century scholars as a well-loved series of French-German conferences. Its primary focus is the literature and culture of the British Isles in the long eighteenth century, but it is also open to eighteenth-century topics relating to France, Germany and further afield.
The LAPASEC conference series was initiated in 2003 by Peter Wagner (University of Koblenz-Landau) and Frédéric Ogée (Université Paris 7 - Denis Diderot), hence the name LAPASEC for Landau-Paris Symposia on the Eighteenth Century. Later, Christoph Houswitschka (Bamberg) became the German convenor.
In 2022, Christoph Houswitschka passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Christoph Heyl took over as German convenor, while at the same time, Rémy Duthille and Tristan Coignard from the Université Bordeaux Montaigne became the new French convenors. Together, we hope to continue LAPASEC for many years to come.
